When he wrote “The Killing Strain” two years ago, Maldonado thought he would shoot it as a short film, but the idea kept growing, like an out-of-control virus. It’s his feature film directing debut, and Maldonado didn’t hold anything back…delivering dread and suspense in every scene. Inspired by real-life medical events, Maldonado’s film pushes the envelope of zombie movies by showing the plausible origin of a truly gruesome “killer strain.”
